Our faculty member Dr. Emine Sökmen Adalı gave lectures titled “Anchoring a City: Temple of Rome and Augustus during Roman and Late Ottoman Ankara” at the Universities of Florence and Sapienza in Rome, and also introduced the Digital Ankyra (www.digitalankyra.com) project. In the lecture, she examined the relationship between the landscape surrounding the hill on which the Temple of Augustus stands and the measures taken to protect the Temple in the context of Late Ottoman official correspondence, comprehensively addressing the conservation officer Giovanni Leonardi and his translation of the Res Gestae.
