The research titled "An Assyrianised rock wall panel with figures at Başbük in south-eastern Turkey" co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Ferruh Adalı from our Department of History is published in the journal Antiquity (https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/antiquity/article/an-assyrianised-rock-wall-panel-with-figures-at-basbuk-in-southeastern-turkey/82415CB88AF5392098777D2A1B27D008). With the permission and support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, under the directorship of Şanlıurfa Archeology Museum Director Celal Uludağ, museum experts Yusuf Koyuncu, Aziz Ergin, and with workers under the scientific consultancy of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Önal from Harran University’s Archeology Department, a rescue excavation was carried out in August and September 2018. Rock paintings depicting Aramean gods from the Middle Iron Age period in Assyrian style were discovered in an Iron Age underground structure. The Aramaic writings accompanying the rock paintings were read and interpreted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Ferruh Adalı. The article containing the current findings was announced to the scientific community by taking place in the international media.
