Our Faculty of History Department Faculty Member and Department Chair Prof. Dr. Selim Ferruh Adalı gave a seminar titled “When Worlds Collide: The Eurasian Steppe Nomads in Ancient Near Eastern Sources” at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. The seminar addressed issues concerning the Cimmerians and Scythians, who were described as invading tribes in Neo-Assyrian and Ancient Greek sources. By combining textual documents with archaeological data, it examined in detail certain aspects of these steppe tribes, from elements of their material culture to their political influence in the Near East.
