The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism returned six cuneiform clay tablets to Iraq in a ceremony attended by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı and Iraqi Ambassador to Ankara Majid Abdulreda Hassan Al-Lachmawi, as part of efforts to protect cultural assets and combat smuggling. Dating back to the Old Akkadian, Old Babylonian, and Third Ur periods, these clay tablets are significant for the region's cultural heritage, as they discuss religious and economic matters.

Our faculty member Dr. Göksel Baş, a research assistant in the History Department, co-authored a new study with Pál Fodor titled “The Size and Composition of the Ottoman Army in the Mohács Campaign of 1526” has been published in a special issue of Századok, one of Hungary's most established journals.

The article titled “Spying Balkan Orthodox Merchant: Trade, Protectionism, and the Danube Salt Monopoly, 1828-1868” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Bayraktar, a faculty member of our Department of History, has been published in Volume 68 of the Journal of the Economic and Social History of the Orient.

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new book by Dr. Bilal Güzel, a faculty member of our Department of Turkish Language and Literature, titled “Bir Şehir Biyografisi: Gülzâr-ı Sulehâ and Vefeyât-ı Urefâ (Analysis - Critical Text).”
