Buse Nur Bayraktar and Elif Oğuz, graduates of our Faculty’s Department of Turkish Language and Literature, have been working full-time for the past year at the Living Museum and Living Village Anatolian Open-Air Museum, which was established as a social enterprise by Assoc. Prof. Dr Zehra Sema Demir, a member of the Turkish Language and Literature academic staff.
Museums serve as laboratories for the social sciences, providing practical settings where culture, memory, identity and social relations are observed, interpreted and reproduced. Within this framework, our graduates are taking on active responsibilities in areas such as the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage, museum education, visitor experience, the development of children’s and family programmes, creative drama activities and the organisation of events based on folk culture. Thus, the academic knowledge and skills acquired in our department find concrete application in the field.
Yaşayan Müze ve Yaşayan Köy Anadolu Açık Hava Müzesi, in addition to its work on the preservation of cultural values and bringing them to the public, also provides quality employment opportunities for graduates of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature. This process, which contributes to the transformation of knowledge and experience generated within the university into social benefit, supports the professional development of our graduates whilst also laying the groundwork for the cultivation of specialised human resources in the field of cultural studies.
The fact that our graduates take up roles in institutions related to their fields of expertise is a concrete demonstration of the strong links established by the Turkish Language and Literature programme with various fields of work, such as cultural studies, museology, cultural management and adult education.
Our Department takes great pleasure in following the high-calibre roles our graduates have taken on in the field of cultural studies; we congratulate Buse Nur Bayraktar and Elif Oğuz on their successful work and wish them continued success in their professional careers.
