"Ankyra Rome and the Temple of Augustus in the Political Landscape as an Imperial Image" in the Journal of Spatial Planning and Design and also ''Ankara Augustus Temple in Late Ottoman Period Official Correspondence'' was published in the Journal of Archaeology and Art.

Author Güray Süngü was the guest of our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Münire Kevser Baş's "Yakın Dönem Türk Edebiyatı II" course on Wednesday, 31 May. A pleasant conversation was held on the author's novel Düş Kesiği, which was awarded the Oğuz Atay award in 2010. Responding to the students' questions about post-modern literature, Süngü made evaluations on the intellectual/philosophical roots, characteristics and future of post-modern literature.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hilmi DEMİR, a faculty member of the Department of Philosophy, has been approved by the Council of Higher Education to serve as the acting Dean of the Faculty of Communication. We congratulate our teacher and wish him success in his new position.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Ferruh Adalı held presentations and seminars at Heidelberg University on 24-28 April 2023 under the long-term German social science project SFB933 Materialle Textkulturen (Material Text Cultures) and exchanged views on how the archival work is carried out as a part of the Istanbul Sippar Project. 

Assoc. Prof. Selim Ferruh Adalı presented "Towards the Neo-Assyrian Mental Map? The Anatolian Aspect" at the hybrid conference titled Integrated Approaches to the Political Geography of Southern Anatolia 1650-550 BCE, organised by Bilkent University Archaeology Department on 4-6 May.

Research assistant Arif Tapan from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature gave "Effective and Correct Correspondence Techniques Training" to the research assistants working in our faculty on 09 May 2023.

Our Dean Prof. Dr. Münire Kevser Baş was a speech given at the "Iman, Stance and Resurrection SEZAİ KARAKOÇ SEMPOZYUM" organised in cooperation with Conservative Thought and Young Memursen on 28-29 April 2023. 

"Protocol Training" was given to the research assistants working in our faculty by Mr. Niyazi Adalı, Retired Ambassador and Consul General, Chairperson of The Turkey-Australia New Zealand Friendship Association on 25 April 2023. 

With the participation of our Dean Prof. Dr. Münire Kevser BAŞ, a meeting was held with the quality delegates of our departments regarding the SSUA Quality Assurance Report. The measures to be taken regarding the relevant articles were discussed.

Prof. Dr. Şebnem Köşer Akçapar's new article has been published in Cracow Journal of Indological Studies. Written by a team of experts from the Netherlands, India and the UK, the article deals with the 8th and 9th century Qur'an copies found in India. Through an example from the Mughal Era and gifted to the British East India Library by Lord Dalhousie in 1853, the owners, past and distinctive features of the holy book are discussed from a sociological and historical framework, and sheds light on the first centuries of Islam.

The joint article "Conducting Research with Migrants During the Pandemic: The 'New Normal' in the Qualitative Method" by Prof. Dr. Şebnem Koser Akcapar and our graduate student Aysima Calisan has been published in the Journal of Sociological Research.

Sociology Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Şebnem Akçapar joined a live debate on February 23rd organized by TRT World to discuss about current issues regarding Turkish Diaspora in Europe. On the 60th anniversary of Turkish labor migration to Germany, the participants commented on new generations, xenophobia, racist attacks in Hanau, and transnational relations with other diaspora communities.

Sociology Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Sutay YAVUZ has shared his opinions on "Address Based Population Registration System Results 2021" on the live broadcast of the Global Channel News Bulletin.

Sociology Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Sutay YAVUZ has given theoretical and practical training on "Outreach Methodology" (Screening and questionnaire implementation) as a UNICEF Consultant at the "Field Study Training for the Vocational Education Program" organized by TR Ministry of National Education and UNICEF between 7-8 February and 10-11 February 2022.

This volume, Understanding Transformations: Exploring The Black Sea Region and Northern Central Anatolia in Antiquity in the BYZAS series published by German Archaeological Institute Istanbul Branch is edited by Dr. Emine Sökmen and Prof. Andreas Schachner. It aims to explore transformations in the Black Sea and Northern Central Anatolia, politically, culturally, and regarding settlement patterns throughout antiquity.

A new book by Asst. Prof. Ayşe Güç from Anthropology Department is published by Beyan Publishing in September 2021. The book is among the book series "How Should a Muslim Look?".
